I learned that the saying " saved by the bell " came from when people where frequently buried alive. *shudder*
They would attach a string to a bell above ground, and leave the other end with the supposed " corpse ".
If the person happened to not be dead, they'd ring it, and whoever was on the graveyard shift would come running to their rescue.
Add that with a very attractive " belle ", and you've got yourself a tale!
500-Watcher Contesty-Raffley Celebration! The mini-magnets were elated (and I was flat-out shocked) to discover that they have 500 amazing watchers, six months into their mini-magnetic adventure. They poked me and said, "We ought to celebrate these fine people, you know."
I quite agreed. The question then became: How ought we to celebrate?
We could hold a contest, but then we'd have to pick something that was "the best." Best-ness is a tricky business with art-n'-writing, being, as they are, highly subjective. And we could hold a raffle, but those are kind of boring, because you don't really get to play. You just sit there and wait for a name to be drawn.
After much mini-magnetic discussion, the solution became obvious: we ought to hold a contesty-raffley celebration thingy.

Stunning as always.
Great imagery, especially with the italics and strikeouts.
